Get Your Ass In Gear!

GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR!
July 14th, 2009

Yo Monroe, at the bottom is a special inspirational and motivational message just for you (# 6), so be sure to read the whole thing! :)   And become my friend and watch my inspirational videos at www.Facebook.com/monroe.mann, including my interview on CNBC's The Big Idea)

TWO QUICK REVIEWS:
Monroe truly helps you start taking the necessary actions today to achieve your dreams tomorrow. He was able to do this for me at a very reasonable price and if you need that push to bring yourself to the next level, he is your man. I accomplished more in the 5 weeks that we worked together than I had in the previous 6 months. For me, the main outcome in my day-to-day life has been taking immediate actions on ideas and actually "doing" rather than "planning" to do something someday. I have Monroe to thank for that. As entrepreneurs the inspiration to keep pushing can be hard to find at times. Keeping this in mind, I started a blog that seeks to share pieces of inspiration that I have come across which help me push through. Monroe was one of the first people I featured - check it out here: http://foundinspiration.blogspot.com/

Monroe is a great inspiration. Just reading about all the things he's got going reminds me I need to jump up and get things done.

1. TIME MANAGEMENT & ACCOUNTABILITY SCHOOL IS OFFICIALLY A SUCCESS!

So wanna hear some awesome news!?  I launched my Accountability School program just a couple weeks ago, and it's already taking off like a rocket.

Current student, Beverly Aarons (who happens to live in Paris, France) writes, "Joining Monroe's Accountability School has been both motivational and inspiring. In just 10 days I've made more progress on my scifi series and other projects than I've made in months. What a return on my investment! Monroe's Accountability School is highly recommended for those who want to GET IT DONE! Beverly Aarons www.beverlyaarons.com"

Come on, you KNOW you should be doing more to make your dreams come true.  You KNOW you could use some expert help and guidance along the way, and the support of others on the same track.  And you KNOW that a $300 price tag for a three-month program is a STEAL!

The program is ROLLING so you can join ANY TIME.  Please, do yourself a favor and jump on board today.

Your $300 fee includes: three months' access to the backbone of the program (the accountability boards); two 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions with motivational and time management guru Monroe Mann; a free copy of Monroe's upcoming new book, "Time Zen"; and this is just the beginning.

Call Monroe on his cell at 646-764-1764 for more info/to register, or check out the website at www.AccountabilitySchool.com.  If you know you want to enroll, you can also send your $300 payment to tuition@unstoppableartists.com via paypal.

2. MY NEXT SHORT FILM PROGRAM (ActorsFilmSchool.com) starts on Saturday, August 29th. -- Last Time Class Offered for $1695!

Well, my short film school is a great success, and we just finished shooting the 4th film in the THIRD successful AFS short film class!  And a bunch of the films from the 1st and 2nd class are already starting to show up on IMDb.com.  My mission is still to keep the cost of tuition lower than other film schools, but now that I know that the program works (and kicks ass!---see the reviews at ActorsFilmSchool.com), I realize that the amount of value I provide and the amount of personal attention my students get is worth FAR more than $1695.  So... effective immediately, my ads on Facebook and on the website now reflect the new tuition price of $2495 for the short film program.  However, for those on my email list, I will afford you one more opportunity to jump aboard at the current tuition rate of $1695.  If you are interested in joining the class starting in August for only $1695, let me know!  For more information on my short film program, check out: www.ActorsFilmSchool.com

3. THE ACTOR'S FILM SCHOOL FEATURE FILM PROJECT STARTS JANUARY 2010.

Check it out: the website is now up and running at www.LocoDawn.com/feature_project.  In this 12 - 18 month program (TOTALLY PART-TIME, JUST TWO SATURDAYS PER MONTH), you will (with your 8 - 12 other classmates) start a production company, LLC; open a bank account; write a script together, plan the film together; complete the SAG Ultra Low Budget paperwork together; direct, produce, and co-star in the film together; edit the film together on Final Cut Pro; market the finished film together; and together make every effort possible to get the film a distribution deal.  Supervising producer on the project is Monroe Mann, who is founder of Actors Film School, CEO of Loco Dawn Films, a SAG/AFTRA/EQUITY actor, a Masters of Entrepreneurship holder, and a 4th year JD/MBA student at Pace Law/Lubin School of Business.  Check out the website for all the details!  www.LocoDawn.com/feature_project

4. ONE-ON-ONE CAREER AND BUSINESS COACHING STILL ONLY $750 FOR 5 WEEKS.

And of course, I am still available for one-on-one private career and business coaching.  My flagship 5-week program is still $750 and worth every penny!  For more information, check out www.UnstoppableArtists.com/coaching.  And if you haven't yet seen my ten minute interview on CNBC's The Big Idea, be sure to visit the Unstoppable Artists homepage.

5. THE LAW FIRM TRANSITION HAS BEGUN.

I am super stoked to report that the transition of Unstoppable Artists, LLC into an entertainment and small business law firm has begun.  I have begun interviewing with potential law firm partners; I am taking the Multistate Professional Responsibility exam on August 7th; and in late August, I start my last and final year of law school.  In other news, my # 1 bestselling book "Guerrilla Networking" (with Jay Levinson) will be rereleased late July, and my new book "Time Zen" will be available in early August.  I am also going to be offering some free seminars and workshops in the very near future.  Stay tuned!

6. THE MOTIVATIONAL MESSAGE I PROMISED TO SHARE

We ALL have setbacks.  We ALL feel depressed at times.  We ALL want to throw in the towel and give up sometimes.  We ALL feel worthless, inadequate, and well--like a big loser--at times.

For example, just the other day, I was reading the latest issue of Inc. Magazine, and it was a 'start your own business' issue.  There were about ten case studies about these entrepreneurs who started their businesses on a shoestring, and who today, are raking in millions and millions of dollars in income.  Part of me was so inspired--WOW!  I CAN DO THAT TOO!  Part of me felt like such a loser--I started my business BEFORE a lot of these people started theirs, and today, they are making quite a few millions of dollars more than I am.  It is so depressing.

On top of that, I fell really hard for this girl who I thought I was actually going to have a future with, and well, a few days ago, she broke it off.  And now it's over.  And I am really sad about that too.

Add to this all the other crap I deal with on a daily basis such as the constant criticism I receive on my IMDb.com message board; the somewhat difficult relationship I have with my completely dysfunctional parents (my dad's 88, and my mom is 60); the shell shock and neck twitches that I still suffer with caused by the mortars and rockets and body armor in Iraq; the fact that I just started my advanced topics in financial management course for my MBA last night and it is going to KICK MY ASS!  The list goes on!

DO I WANT YOUR PITY?  HELL NO!  Not a chance!  I am Monroe Mann, and nothing gets me down for more than a few days.  Why?  Because my future is too important to allow the present to destroy me.  Am I going to turn my company into a multi-million dollar enterprise?  DUH!  Am I going to meet a girl who loves me?  ONE DAY, YES, I WILL!  Am I (like LL Cool J says (and as I often quote)), "gonna take this itty bitty world by storm"?  UM, YOU KNOW IT.

Am I somewhat depressed and downtrodden right now?  Yes, I am.  Life really is tough sometimes.  But just as I made it through Iraq, and just I know I am going to get out of my slump, and see my dreams through to the end, I know that YOU TOO will do the same.  Time heals all wounds.  Especially when you have a future replete with ambition.  I am SO excited to see you at the top.  I know you're going to make your dreams come true, and together, we will both have a drink at the top and laugh at all the losers who slammed our dreams and broke our hearts.

If ever I can help you get through YOUR slumps, YOUR career setbacks, YOUR life's hiccups--call me.  That's what I do best: help people overcome the obstacles in their lives.  Why am I so good at it?  Because my life has been nothing but 32 years of obstacles, and every day, I kick them down and let them know who is boss!  That's how!

Thank you for always your time and most importantly, thank you for your continuing business and support.  There is no way I am going to get to the top without the support of amazing people like you.  THANK YOU.  You have no idea how much your support means to me.  I hope I can continue to be an important part of your life in some way.

Sincerely,
Monroe Mann, ME, GMC

Origami Deathmatch Submitted to Sundance!

I just submitted Origami Deathmatch to Sundance.  I found this odd category which the film seems to fit perfectly: Park City at Midnight.  I was submitting two of my more recent films to Sundance and then found this category and thought, "Hey, why not submit Origami!"  Check out the description here:

It's basically a forum for odd, strange, and over the top films, comedies included.  It's a non-competitive category, but would help to gain some further exposure for the film.  Even if we don't get selected (which is very very likely), they promise that the film will be watched from beginning to end, so we'll all at least maybe make another fan in whomever watches the film.

For those who don't know, the film is still viewable and downloadable from www.OrigamiDeathmatch.com.  You can download the Quicktime file to your computer, and then, use an editing program to grab your particular scenes, and you can then add the material to your reel.  Please continue to send your friends and fans to watch your work at www.OrigamiDeathmatch.com

Finally, I started a film school last year, www.ActorsFilmSchool.com that is now moving into its 4th class section. The next short film program starts in late August and the very first FEATURE FILM program starts in September.  In both programs, you not only write and direct, but also co-star in the film.  I am so excited about the feature film program.  If you're interested, or know someone who might be, let me know!
All my best,
-Monroe

So, what are my client up to lately?

June 19th, 2009

I am so very proud of all my clients/students, and here are some recent updates on what some of them are up to these days.  Most impressively, I want to send a big shout out to Bill Roulston, whose travel documentary premieres on the Travel Channel this weekend!  He's been working on it for over 5 years, and now it's on TV!  Hooah!

(Note: Bill's update is first; all the others are listed in the order I received them, i.e. no particular order.  Congrats to each of you for continuing to make your dreams come true.  KEEP ON ROMPING ON!  NO RULES. NO EXCUSES.  NO REGRETS.)

BILL ROULSTON: His travel documentary, Dream Riders, premieres on the Travel Channel this Saturday, June 20th, 8pm and midnight (Eastern), and also Sunday, June 21, 10am.  He writes, "Monroe, I don't know if I would have come up with the concept or had the vision and persistence to see it through without your encouragement. So thanks. If you get a chance to see it you'll find you're listed in the credits."  Check out www.DreamRidersMovie.com

LARRY WARREN: Writes, "My wife and I have been living with infertility for 12 years and now I'm using that experience to coach other couples through it. I am writing a book that will take these couples through a 7 step process to help them regain control of their lives, experience more joy, dream again and build stronger relationships with those around them. I just completed my 10 year business plan with Monroe and am in the process of updating my website to reflect my new focus. Please visit www.focusincoaching.com to learn more.

JOE COSTA: Joe Costa has been jumping from corporate video production to corporate video production.  He's just finished a five-part interstitial series for a nation-wide conference and is now in pre-production for an insurance brand video and two music videos.  He got a call back audition for a McDonald's commercial and still finds the time to trade Options, Forex and Stock Futures.  www.firestorm-entertainment.com

JAY PAINTER: Jay Painter is glad to be back home in New York after a 70 city major national tour and an Off-Broadway run performing Shakespeare and Homer with Aquila Theatre Company.   He is the co-founder of Friday Night Face-Off, Long Island's longest running/funniest improv comedy show and after 7 years of sold out shows is making it legit.  Jay and his partner in comedy Eric Robinson are forming Face-Off Unlimited LLC - a comedy based production company currently marketing their brand new improv show to cruise lines and other venues as well as producing commercials for a soon to be launched internet TV network.  www.fridaynightfaceoff.com

RYAN WHITE: Writes, "I'm shooting video of NYC's Fashion elite and Producing web video for Fashionista.com.  I'm taking on large construction projects with my company Formula Contractors LLC with my partner Shawn.  I'm working with an Emmy award winning screenwriter on a fantastic short movie script."  www.firewindpictures.com

DEBBIE BORDELON: Writes, "My newest project is promoting the movie: 20 Something by Antonio Jeraci.  I have been doing quite a bit of research and I have found an interesting website for Indie film makers: Big Star TV   http://www.bigstar.tv/  This site features a monthly contest ($1000 prize) and filmmakers can showcase their work for visitors to buy or rent their films." www.20somethingmovie.com

LARISSA JAYE: Singer-songwriter Larissa Jaye is thrilled to announce the pending summer arrival of her debut album, New Leaves Over.  She also just returned from Denver, CO, where she graduated from Rhonda Britten's Fearless Living Institute as a Certified Fearless Living Life Coach, and received the high honor of an award entitled "Growth with Integrity".  Aside from her roster of private coaching clients across the country, Larissa facilitates ongoing groups and one-day workshops (next one this Saturday, 6/20) in NYC.  www.bestYOUever.com

ALICE BISMUT:  Writes, "I am in Israel, editing my comic mini series.  You can watch a clip (the 'rap' is still in development, haha) at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6sRy5q8Uds  I also just became certified as a Guerilla Marketing coach 2 days ago.  Finally, my one woman stage show in Tel Aviv 2 weeks ago was a resounding success."

MONROE MANN: Writes, "I couldn't resist sharing some of my news as well.  Please indulge me, haha.  I'm stoked that my new book, "Time Zen" will be released mid-summer.  I'm pleased to report I will be hitting the stage again in a few weeks performing some music in Brooklyn.  And my long anticipated time management program called "Accountability School" has launched, and the first class starts on July 1st.  Check it out at www.AccountabilitySchool.com ROMP ON!"

Thank you for supporting my clients/students by reading this email.  They would all love to hear from you, so feel free to get in touch and congratulate them personally!  And of course, if you are interested in speaking with me (Monroe) for 20 minutes about your life, career, and business, and how I may be able to help, lemme know!

Oh, and by the way, I am starting The Actors Film School 'feature film project' this September.  If you would like to join 8 - 12 other ambitious showbiz dynamos, and together, write, produce, direct, STAR IN, edit, and distribute a feature film over the course of one year, let me know.  It's gonna be a wild wild ride.  Cost is tentatively $1000 for AFS grads; $2000 otherwise.  Half of your tuition goes to Actors Film School; the other half goes into a joint bank account for our new production company---a new Limited Liability Company that we create of which you are a part owner.  Cool, right?  If you want to learn every aspect of feature film making, both in front of the camera, behind the camera, and off the camera, and actually make a feature film in the process, this is the course for you!  Call me.  Space is limited. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely,
Monroe Mann, ME, GMC

Monroe is a great inspiration. Just reading about all the things he's got going reminds me I need to jump up and get things done.

THE MAIN EVENT.

Hey Folks!

GET OFF YOUR ASS!  That's your first bit of inspiraiton.  It's called: 'stop being lazy, okay'?

So, I've got a LOT of great and inspiring things to share in this email, so please, if you want a pick me up, keep on reading!

1. MY AWESOME NEW CLIENT, JULIET L. PACKER

This is a cool story.  A few weeks ago, I was honored with the privilege of speaking to about 45 members of the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) on the subject of "Guerrilla Networking".  Not only was that a thrill, but now, I am pleased to report that one of the attendees, Juliet L Packer, is now a client.  And what a client: Juliet has won four--count 'em---FOUR WGA awards for All My Children.  She has also received four--yep, FOUR--Emmy nominations for As The World Turns.  In fact, for 25 years she wrote for the soaps.  Pretty impressive.  She has also written for a number of episodic television shows, animated shows, and of course, daytime.  She is also currently on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences.  Right now, she has completed a pilot for what I think is going to be one of the most novel television dramas in years---together, Juliet and I are working on gaining sponsors, gaining attachments, and pitching the show to the various networks.  Fun stuff.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS JULIET!  You're awesome.  You can contact Juliet via her production company, www.WoofStarProductions.com or via email: juliet@woofstarproductions.com.  If any of you have affiliations with animals in any way, I suggest you contact her.  She'll explain why.

2. WHAT THIS ALL MEANS TO ME AND YOU

Second, for those of you who have been following me for years, you know what a big step forward this is for me and my company.  I started out teaching a class on how to break into student films in 1999, and today, I am teaching members of the world famous Writer's Guild how to become better networkers.  In 1999, I was charging $50 an hour, and had TWO clients (Chris Lucas and David Marcus!) and today, I make $125 an hour and I have over 220 clients, and heck, now one of them is a 4-time Emmy nominee who has won 4 WGA awards.  My oh my, I am awe-struck and there is a smile a mile wide on my face.  Look how far I have come!  Is this awesome or what?!

So what's my point?  My point is that it has taken me NINE YEARS to get to this point, and the journey hasn't really even begun.  My point is that those big dreams in your head aren't going to come true 'overnight', but if you stick with it through thick and thin, your dreams can and ARE GOING to come true.  Don't give up people!  Don't slack off!  Keep up the fight; keep up the battle; keep up the momentum.  Whenever you are feeling down, or feeling like it's just not worth it, know this: I AM ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU, THINKING OF YOU, ROOTING FOR YOU, IN THE RING WITH YOU DAMNIT!

3. AND THANKS TO JEFF GOLDSTEIN

And I should mention something else.  You know how I got the speaking gig at WGA?  It's because I spoke at AFTRA.  How did I speak at AFTRA?  Because I was introduced to Joyce Korbin, who books speakers.  How did that happen?  I was invited onto the set of my client, Jeff Goldstein--he had all of 52nd street closed down by the police in order to shoot a scene in one of his films and invited me down to watch.  While there, he remembered that I always told my clients how much I wanted to speak at the unions.  He remembered.  Joyce, who was one of his actors, was there.  He introduced me.

So, first off, thank you to Jeff Goldstein.  If it weren't for the fact that I continually kept telling everyone I meet that I wanted to speak at the unions, it never would have happened.  If it weren't for the fact that Jeff is so generous with his contacts and genuinely wants to see others in the business succeed, it never would have happened.  As they say, what goes around comes around.  I want you all to check out his blog, www.UsherOnBroadway.com.  I think you'll find it more than amusing.  :)

Want more inspiration?  Keep on reading!

4. COLIN

If you haven't yet heard about the $70 zombie film that is wowing everyone at Cannes, click here.  My awesome comic friend and screenwriting partner Ronnie Khalil (www.RonnieKhalil.com) shared this story with me.  We are shooting our Stephen King horror film this fall/winter up in Maine, and he's always looking out for our budget.  Go Ronnie.  And to all you people with big dreams reading this (that should be everyone, by the way), let this story be an inspiration to you to STOP COMING UP WITH EXCUSES!  Remember my break diving creed: No Rules, No Excuses, No Regrets.  Don't just learn it.  LIVE IT BABY!

5. THREE YEARS HAVE PASSED LIKE A BREEZE

Three years ago today, I was 28 years old, and deciding whether it would make sense to do this joint JD/MBA program at Pace University.  I was thinking, "Do I really want to do this?  That's FOUR YEARS.  I'm gonna be 32 by the time I graduate.  Yuck!"  I really hesitated.  I'm glad I didn't because--oh my oh my, I can't believe it--I am nearly done!   In less than 12 months, I will not only have my MBA in Finance, but--CRAZINESS--I'll be taking the bar exam!  I am going to be an entertainment attorney!  IS THAT COOL OR WHAT?!!

Folks, time FLIES!  Yeah, I am going to be 32 next year, but ya know what?  I still feel like I am 23 years old!  And now, instead of being just another 32 year old with big dreams, I'm gonna be a 32 year old with big dreams... and a law degree...  and an MBA.  Ummmm, that just might come in handy, haha.

Think of your own life, five to ten years in the future.  Would it be cool if you were a doctor?  A published author.  A school teacher.  A lecturer.  What?  Get out of your comfort zone and THINK LONG TERM people!  Stop making your decisions based on tomorrow; make your decisions based on where you want to be TEN YEARS FROM NOW.

 6. ACCOUNTABILITY & TIME MANAGEMENT SCHOOL

Yabba Dabba Do---my time management and project accountability school is just about ready to launch.  The website isn't launched yet, but you'll be able to find it at both www.WinnersDoItNow.com and www.AccountabilitySchool.com in a few weeks.

BUT... I am not waiting that long to get started.  I already have 3 people registered, and I wanted to see who else might be interested in getting started right now.

The cost is under $300 for three months.  What do you get?
* 2 thirty-minute accountability calls with me, Monroe Mann
* 3 group calls, one each month, to get feedback from other students
* Access to the online message board, where you are required to post your plans and strives for each month
* 3-month free access to my brand new proprietary time management software
* a FREE pre-publication version of my new time management book, "Time Zen", that outlines what my time management system is all about

Bottom line, the course will run for about $250, and will include use of my new online time management software, plus monthly meetings with your support group (of which I will be a part).  I guarantee that you will get more done during these three months than you have in the last year combined.  Try it!  Not only will the course help you think big, but you'll also GET IT DONE.

7. OTHER BITS OF FUN NEWS

In other news, I just wanted to let you know that:

* I am still creating an 'investor opportunity' group, i.e. a group of those who are interested in investing in showbusiness and entrepreneurial projects that I come across.  You don't need a lot to invest (many opportunities can be secured for only $100/share, with no minimum shares), so if you have any interest at all, just reply to me with your full name, and what state you live in, and I will add you to the list and provide you with more information as opportunities develop.

* I am nearly done writing my stand up comedy act, and will let you know when I am performing so you can come laugh with me, not at me.  Same goes for a bunch of musical open mics I am going to be performing at.

* My new book, "Time Zen - the shortest and most effective time management book ever written" is done, and I hope to have it available for you to read by mid summer!

* If you're trying to purchase "Guerrilla Networking" and can't find the book, it's because Jay and I are switching publishers.  The 2nd edition will be available by the beginning of July.  Hang tight!

* Ronnie and I are going to begin casting our feature-length horror film this summer.  It will be SAG Ultra Low Budget.  It's about time!

* Will you kindly write a review about Unstoppable Artists and/or Monroe Mann?  You can do so by clicking here: www.ratepoint.com/tellus/13968

* Please be sure to click on 'update my profile' or something like that at the bottom of this email.  There are lots of new lists you can join that you might find interesting, so please make sure you are on the lists that you want to receive.

Okay, talk soon everyone!  Thanks for all your support, and I hope this information was helpful for you.

MEET YOU AT THE TOP!
-Monroe

Endeavor/WMA Merger and some important money tips

Greetings Unstoppable One!

First, before I tell you about the potential Endeavor/William Morris Agency merger, here are some money tips.  I found the following "12 Commandments of Wealth" in the latest Reader's Digest, and they were so great, I wanted you to have them too:

1. Seek money for money's sake and ye shall not find.
2. Find your perfect pitch. (Know your strengths and weaknesses)
3. Be your own boss
4. Get addicted to ambition [Monroe's note: my version of this is to be 'obsessed with success']
5. Wake up early.  Be early.
6. Don't set goals--execute or get executed [Monroe's note--this is my favorite one!]
7. Fail so you can succeed.
8. Location doesn't matter.  Success can take place anywhere.
9. Moor yourself to morals.
10. Say yes to sales.
11. Borrow from the best--and the worst. [Monroe's note: he's not talking about money, but ideas]
12. Never retire.

Next, here is the full text of an article I read in the NY Post today about the potential upcoming merger between two of the biggest talent agencies.  And for you Entourage fans, you better be sure to read the whole thing. :)

HOLLYWOOD AGENCIES COMBINE TALENTS by Peter Lauria, NY Post

Call it the ultimate Hollywood marriage.
Two of Tinseltown's most powerful talent agencies -- Endeavor and William Morris Agency -- are close to inking a merger that will create a force within the industry, providing perhaps one of the most powerful rivals to market leader Creative Artists Agency.
According to people familiar with the matter, Endeavor's 28 partners and WMA's board are expected to vote today on the combination, which will retain the WMA name.  The deal's value is said to be less that $100 million.
Endeavor boss Ari Emanuel, brother to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and the inspiration behind Ari Gold on the HBO series, "Entourage," is expected to be named CEO of the combined company, while WMA's chief Jim Wiatt would be named chairman.
But like many Hollywood marriages, this one could also en up in divorce.
Hollywood sources said that while Endeavor, which Emanuel co-founded 14 years ago, and WMA months ago agreed in principle to a merger, the deal has run into snags that has prevented completion and have all the earmarks of Hollywood ego clashes.
Among the issues that took considerable time to work out: what roles Emanuel and Wiatt would have into the company and what name the merged outfit would take.
And though those issues are apparently settled, there are doubts the battles are over.
Indeed, Emanuel and Wiatt have a stormy history that dates back to when both men worked at International Creative Management in the 1990s.  Wiatt, then ICM's president, ousted Emanuel when he caught him and Endeavor's co-founders clearing out their desks in preparation for Endeavor's launch.
Beyond that, sources say agents at both firms are nervous about the culture wars that are expected to ensue, and already some have started to look to jump ship to rival talent agencies.

ANOTHER INSPIRING UPDATE FROM THE ROMANN EMPIRE!
(Note: a new episode of Before the Big Break is now online at BeforeTheBigBreak.com.  Showing now is my interview with 'Gary Goldstein, Producer of Pretty Women, Part II'.  I think you'll get a big inspiring kick out of his story, and you'll learn something about raising money for your projects too.)

Greetings to the RoMann Legion! (that's you)

It's been a while since I've sent off an update on what's going on in my crazy world, so I thought (before I head off to the Bahamas) let me bring you all up to speed.  I hope my update inspires you to realize that you should NEVER 'focus' on just one dream, when it is most certainly possible to see them all come true. :)

a) I received two amazing phone calls today.  First, a call from Joan at t he Writer's Guild of America, i.e. the union for all professional screenwriters.  Turns out she heard about how successful my Guerrilla Networking workshop was at AFTRA and their board decided to bring me in to speak to the NY members of WGA in May. Gnarly, right?

b) Well, it gets better.  She decided she liked what she was hearing, and was thrilled when I told her how much I now knew about securities law and raising money through private placements.  Next thing I know, she is passing my info along to... the Producers Guild of America!  Totally radical, right?

c) Well, it gets BETTER.  Moments after I hang up, I get a call from... Ellen.  Who is Ellen?  She's with a company called the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  Ya know, they put on that thing every year called... THE EMMYS!  She too heard through the grapevine (actually, from a cool cat named Fiddle who I met at AFTRA) about my AFTRA workshop, and now 'The Academy' (said very stoicly) is bringing me in to speak to their members in May as well.   Like, oh my god, no way?!!  --> Yes way Ted! (movie reference)

d) So that was just part of the afternoon.  I also spent a few hours working at the Greenburg Drug Court, doing some pro bono (law student) legal work.  I am helping them create a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity.  I also spent 7 hours helping one of my film students, Curt Nielsen, put the finishing touches on his sick and twisted drama called, "Dear John" that I know you're gonna love.  If you haven't yet, you can watch 7 of the films I have shot (and acted in) with my students at www.ActorsFilmSchool.com

e) As some of you may know, I am 90% done with my latest (6th) book, called, "Time Zen - the simplest, shortest, and most-effective time management system ever created."  Everyone always asks me, "Do you sleep?"  The answer is... yes, I do!  In fact, not only do I get more done than most, but I think I am less stressed out because of it--because I have control over my time, rather than time controlling me.  That's what this book will teach you---how to turn time into YOUR slave, instead of the other way around.  Look for it on Amazon in mid-June!

f) I am proud to be 3 weeks away from finishing my 2nd year of law school.  I am still in the joint JD/MBA program, and will be finishing my MBA in Finance this December, and my law degree next May.  This summer, I'm enrolled in four MBA classes: Investment Analysis; Advanced Topics in Financial Management; Securities Law; and Stakeholder Responsibility.  I am SO excited about these classes---these classes that are turning me into a financial dynamo.

g) Speaking of law school, I am stoked to report that I have taken the first steps towards turning Unstoppable Artists, LLC into the most awesome entertainment law firm in the world.  It's all preliminary, but I have posted an ad on Craigslist under NY Legal Job looking for potential law partners (it's still there, if you want to see it).  I can't believe the number of responses and the caliber of those interested.  I am honored and humbled, and want to thank Dan Timins of Timins and Durante, and attorney Ben Thompson in DC for helping me out this past week, answering my questions.  One of the services I hope to become well known for is independent SEC-exempted 504 and 506 securities offerings, i.e. helping low budget filmmakers, rock bands, theater and show producers, and small businesses find and raise the money they need to make their dreams come true!  Awesomeness!

h) On that note, I am excited to report that if everything continue on schedule, we (Ronnie, Bob, and I) will be casting our feature-length horror film, "The Quiet" this May, doing pre-pro over the summer, and shooting in the fall in the great state of Maine.  Arghhhh.  That's my pirate impression, though I don't know why it would be appropriate here.  It must be late, haha.  Or I must be thinking about my trip to the Bahamas.  More on that soon.

i) For those tracking my progress, I am now about 17,000 words into my novel, called "STASIS", which I hope to have done by summer.  I also started a new screenplay that is so novel, even I myself don't know what it's about.  Yeah, THAT hush hush. :)

j) Finally, I am now a certified 1st Responder, and on the road to becoming a PADI Rescue Diver.  That's part of the reason I am leaving for the Bahamas shortly.  I am spending 7 days living on a 65-foot catamaran sailboat, sailing around the islands, and scuba diving three times a day.  I am enrolled in the Rescue and DiveMaster program, the completion of which will make me eligible to become a SCUBA instructor, which is something I have wanted to become for a long time.  Once I become an instructor, I get to go on free vacations in exotic locales around the world, teaching SCUBA diving.  How miserable.

On that note, I want to wish a fond 'bon voyage'.  Well, I guess since I'm the one leaving, I will accept YOUR 'bon voyage' wishes to me.  Fair winds, I say!  And thanks again for all of your support, now, and over the years.  The RoMann Empire can only stay strong with YOUR support.  As I have alluded to many times, there is going to be a special reward for those who are still on this email list once I 'hit it big'.  I can't tell you yet what the surprise is (top secret), but it's gonna be pretty cool---and no, it's not a free ebook.

< div>Oh, before I head to bed, I wanted to remind you about three things:
a) don't forget my career, business, time management, and financial coaching services through Unstoppable Artists.  I am in a really good mood since I am heading out on vacation, so anyone who becomes a client before the end of the month and mentions this email will get $75 off the $750 program, or $45 off the $375 program.
b) don't forget to check out my film school, Actors Film School.  The next course starts Sat, April 18th, and I have one more spot left, and yes, I now offer incredibly affordable payment plans (as low as $137.50/month)
c) don't forget to check out my books: The Theatrical Juggernaut, Guerrilla Networking, Battle Cries for the Underdog, Start Your Own Coaching Business, and To Benning and Back.  And tell your friends!  <--ya know, the obligatory marketing thing to say, haha.

ROMP ON!

NOTE: There is room for one more student in the next AFS class starting on April 18th.  Rebecca Thomas and Carl Kelsey have already registered and we're looking for one more ambitious smiling face!  Do you want to be a part of the NEXT AFS film festival?  Join the class today and I'll make sure you finish your film and get it up there!

Oh: You have GOT to read20some of these testimonials from past students.  Here are three from the latest class:

Testimonial # 1: by TONY JERACI - Class of January 2009
His Film: "Hummusity in Desperate Times"

"Actor's Film School is truly one of the most unique film schools out there.  I have yet to find a more rigorous eight-week program that will teach you all the essentials of do-it-yourself filmmaking.  Small classes that provide close attention and hands-on learning was the best part.  Also, after completing four shorts in two months, you'll feel confident to pursue that feature film you've been holding on to.  I can't stress it enough: after this class, you will know how to be (and if you want to be) a filmmaker.  Monroe's class covers it all, from the early stages of pre-production through the final elements of post.  Whether you're a novice filmmaker looking to learn the basics, or someone who's worked on films before but wants to get four short films under his/her belt, then I highly recommend taking this class."

Testimonial # 2: by CURT NIELSEN - Class of January 2009
His Film, "Dear John"

As an actor, I've had no better, in-depth training in the medium of film than Actors Film School.  While directing, shooting and editing my own film, I analyzed the different takes of my own performance. I realized the power and limits of the camera, lighting, and angles, and how to most effectively enhance the power of my acting. I've learned what the editor needs, and what makes the director thrill -- because I've worn all those hats in completing my own film and working on those of my classmates.  And, through Actors Film School, I've had the good fortune of working with people who've completed their own highly regarded films and shared their invaluable expertise.  Where else can an actor gain that confidence and on-camera training so affordably and quickly (and have so much fun doing it?) I put a star in my pocket with the Actors Film School experience and would recommend it to anyone who may considering it.

CAROLINE POPPELL - Class of January 2009
Her Film: "Open Call"

I would definitely recommend this course to someone who wanted to learn the basics of making a movie.  This course has not only given me the ability to make a feature, but I now have the confidence.  Stay tuned for my feature- "Risk-Free Departure"=2 0in 2010!
