So, how did the screening go? (& Christmas greetings)

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

First, I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy Hannukah.  I wish you all the very best, and send you my prayers as we move into 2008.  May this be our best year yet.  TRIUMPH & VICTORY BABY!

Second, I've been receiving a bunch of emails from friends and fans asking how the premiere of Origami Deathmatch turned out.  Well... I am pleased to report that it was a grand and resounding success!  Sure, the Pioneer Theater is a gorgeous east village theater that everyone raved about, but the theater wasn't all they raved about!  Our 40-minute film Origami Deathmatch... was a hit!  From friends who were 'blown away' by what they saw to members of the media and the industry who have declared their intention of helping finance the feature film, the consensus was that this premiere is certainly not the end, and rather just the beginning!  We were all absolutely thrilled to hear the audience roaring with laughter throughout the film, and have been completely overwhelmed with encouragement about our prospects at film festivals.  To that end, we are excited to report that we have submitted the film to the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival, the Rincon International Film Festival, and that's just for starters.  Ladies and gentlemen, I do believe that Origami Deathmatch has a future. :)  What a cast!  What a crew!  What a beautifully folded piece of paper!

NOW FOLD, YOU FOLDING SON OF A BITCH, FOLD!

Thank you for all of your support!

Comedy Legends Team Up With Generation X for New Comedy Film

( New York City) Sammy Petrillo—best known for his resemblance to Jerry Lewis in the 1950s cult classic Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla—has teamed up with up-and-coming film maker and Iraq war veteran Monroe Mann to shoot a brand new ending to the film that has made Petrillo a cult star even to this day.

Petrillo and Mann are negotiating a co-production deal with Rick Sapphire, who is none other than Jerry Lewis' agent, and also with the ever-famous Joe Franklin, the 'king of nostalgia', who is a long-time friend of Petrillo.  Petrillo's current comedy partner Suzie Fiore will also appear in the film, as well as Mann, who is an actor himself.  Additional potential appearances include Mickey Rooney, and other Hollywood stars.

Petrillo, now in his mid-seventies, shot Brooklyn Gorilla when he was just 17, with his long-time comedy partner Duke Mitchell.  Together, the two became known as the world's best Lewis and Martin impersonators, and today, are still recognized as such.

Film critic Leonard Maltin says that "[ Brooklyn Gorilla] is always at the top of my list [of the best of Hollywood's worst].  It's not only got Bela and a gorilla, but it has two guys who were the poor man's Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis… They were a nightclub act that bore an amazing resemblance to Dean and Jerry.  It's a film you watch in utter amazement."

Petrillo will appear in this new ending co-written/co-produced/directed by Monroe Mann, 30, whose comedy film Origami Deathmatch premieres December 21st, 2007 at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater in Manhattan.  Mann is honored to include Sammy Petrillo, Joe Franklin, & Suzie Fiore as members of the attending audience for this world premiere.

The new ending to Brooklyn Gorilla takes place 50 years later.  Instead of it all being a dream, this ending plays with the idea that Sammy and Duke never got off the island, and that 50 years later they are still stuck there, in their seventies!  Even more strange, other stars over the years have also become stranded on the island, and they all have been unsuccessful in getting off—sort of like a Gilligin's Island of Movie Stars.

"Now I can be in a movie and be as old as my material," jokes Petrillo.  "Once I was the youngest has-been in show business; and now I can be one of the oldest!  This idea of a new ending is something Monroe Mann and I are really excited about; it's our brainchild.  A generation gap thing.  I just wish Duke were here to be in it too."

Mann says he's really honored that Sammy has put his trust in him.   Mann jokes, "And it didn't hurt one bit!"

Mann is currently also producing the world's first wakeboarding feature film that he co-wrote called "In the Wake" with producers Christian Barnes (National Lampoon's Cattle Call) and David Salzberg (The Perfect Game with Cheech Marin and Emilie de Ravin), as well as a horror film that he co-wrote shooting in Maine this spring that is based on a true story. Mann is also editing the world's first comedy documentary about the war in Iraq, shot entirely by Mann during his tour of duty in the middle east.

Thank you for all of your support!

Improv show TODAY, and 'hooah' Monroe Mann update!

DATE: December 16th, 2007
SUBJECT: Improv show TODAY, and 'hooah' Monroe Mann update.

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

Hello!

A) First, if you're in New York City, come TODAY (Sunday) to Upright Citizens Brigade theater to see me and 11 other performers split into two teams to perform what we improvisors affectionately call The Harold - a longform improvised show based on a suggestion BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES.  It's a wild and fun show with a big layer of 'what the heck is happening next?' added to a process that can only be described as building a plane in the air.  If that doesn't sound fun, what does?  It's today, Sunday, 5:30PM, at UCB Theater, 26th St, just west of 8th ave, $5.

B) In other news, I am pleased to report that I:
* am just finishing up my first semester of law school this week--one final exam down, two to go!
* am graduating this May with my Masters in Entrepreneurship
* am finishing up a new book called, "How to Start Your Own Motivational Coaching Business" with Entrepreneur Press
* am 1/4 through my studies at Boston Institute of Finance to become a Certified Financial Planner
* just finished a new horror screenplay with comedian Ronnie Khalil and horror writer Bob Madia which we hope to start shooting in Maine this spring
* Barnes & Noble just made a big order to stock Guerrilla Networking in even MORE stores across the country!  THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
* I have two speaking engagements in January: one on Jan 8th at at the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists speaking about how to 'Make Your Own Break/Be Your Own Manager' and another at Drama Book Shop on Saturday, the 19th, talking about... 'Guerrilla Networking in the Arts and Business'.
* and I'm SOOO pleased and excited to report that my SAG comedy film Origami Deathmatch (that I wrote, produced, directed, and co-starred in along with 32 other actors) is premiering this Friday, December 21st, at the Pioneer Theater in New York City.  I am sending a press release off with more info later tonight/tomorrow with more details.

SUBJECT: We did it!  # 1 Business Book in America!

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

Talk about being THANKFUL!  TO YOU!!

We did it!  Guerrilla Networking is # 1!

We have been the # 1 business book in America for the last 2 days!!

For some reason, the book isn't yet listed as a business book on Barnes & Noble (very weird) but the # 1 business book right now is Gitomer's Cha-Ching, ranked at #55, and well, Guerrilla Networking is at # 49.  So technically, we are # 1!

I LOVE technicalities.

If you haven't bought a copy yet, think of the BRAGGING RIGHTS you can have by saying, "Oh, I just bought the # 1 business book in America... BECAUSE MY FRIEND IS ONE OF THE AUTHORS."

If you HAVE bought a copy (thank you!), you can say, "Oh, THAT book?  I knew about it before it even was # 1, BECAUSE MY FRIEND IS ONE OF THE AUTHORS!  Here, I bought another copy for you, so you can catch up."

If you haven't yet, please visit www.BN.com today and order a copy of my new book Guerrilla Networking today (co-written with Jay Conrad Levinson)!  EVERY SALE COUNTS!  And you're gonna LOVE the book.

Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
-Monroe Mann

Fwd: Kick-Ass Fall Update!

DATE: October 12th, 2007
SUBJECT: Kick-Ass Fall Update!

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

Hello My Loyal Fanbase!

Here's the latest and greatest.  And remember my dear friends, I am not bragging... just 'sharing the vibe' in an effort to bring you up to speed, and perhaps inspire you at the same time! : )

a) My new book, "Guerrilla Networking"--the one you have all been waiting for--the one I co-wrote with the famous Jay Conrad Levinson--is going to be officially released ON NOVEMBER 20th!  Please WAIT before purchasing it.  Jay Levinson, myself, my publisher, and the 20-odd contributors to the book are asking you to make your purchase at www.BN.com on November 20th... in an effort to rocket the book to number one on that day through an abundance of sales.  More instuctions to come.

b) Sold another book!  I am pleased to report that I signed the contract a few weeks ago with Entrepreneur Press for a new book called, "How to Start Your Own Motivational Coaching Business", based on the success I have had (and continue to have) with my own company, Unstoppable Artists.  So, now when people ask how good of a motivational business coach I am, I can say, "Well, I wrote the book on the subject..."

c) Origami Deathmatch Update: yes [Arthur!] the film is just about done!  We are finishing up editing in the next 6 weeks, and plan to have the first official screening of the film in mid December in Manhattan.  [Arthur Brown (www.ArthurSBrown.com) plays the role of Nicky in the film] For those who don't know, this is the first SAG film I directed, with 32 actors, and it was a blast.  It is super funny, and incidentally, I also wrote it, produced it, and co-starred in it.  The film is now up on www.IMDb.com, so you can check out the stellar cast online, and I look forward to inviting you to the premiere this December.  The website is www.OrigamiDeathmatch.com

d) Brooklyn Gorilla: Super cool stuff.  I am now writing, producing, directing, and co-starring in an 'official' brand-new 15-minute spoof ending to the classic film from the 50s called, 'Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla'.  If you haven't seen it, watch it!  It's a movie that Christopher Guest said would be one of the five movies he would bring onto a desert island were he to get stranded.  I want to thank Sammy Petrillo himself (the co-star of the original, and star of this new ending) for helping to make this possible, and also my new friend David Kopple at Gersh Agency in LA for offering to promote and screen the film in Los Angeles once we shoot it at the end of a re-screening of the original film!  FYI, for those who don't know, Sammy Petrillo is the world's most famous Jerry Lewis impersonator, and was friends with Richard Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield, Lucille Ball, Desi Arnez, and the list goes on.  Do a google search for "Sammy Petrillo" and you'll see what a legend this guy is.  NOTE: I may be holding a screenwriting competition for the new ending.  Stay tuned.

 e) An Invitation: I am performing at Upright Citizen's Brigade this Sunday at 1PM (NOT 1:30, as I mentioned to some of you).  It's my level 201 graduation show, and if you're in the area, it's only $5, and you're guaranteed to laugh.  Address is 307 W 26th St, right off of 8th avenue, on the uptown side of the street.  Hope to see you there!  If not, I'll be in another show on Sunday, December 16th, and I hope you can catch that one.

f) My Band: Me being deployed to Iraq caused quite the upset for the band back in 2005, but I'm pleased to report that three songs we recorded back in 2003 are now on iTunes and CDBaby (search for Running for Famous), and two new songs are just about finished!  I am also restructuring the band into a smaller more manageable outfit, and am looking for a flutist, a violinist, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer who can play djembe, etc.  If you or anyone else you know is interested, send 'em my way.

g) OTHER NEWS: In other news, my wakeboarding feature film, "In the Wake", drives on.  We've got a bunch of new investors on the horn, and we are still hoping to start principal photography in Orlando next fall.  The first draft of a new horror screenplay about Stephen King is finally finished, thanks to co-writers Ronnie Khalil and Bob Madia.   I have FINALLY finished logging the 76 hours of footage I shot in Iraq, and have begun editing together my comedy documentary about the war.  I did indeed start law school at Pace Law, crashing in on classes Mon- Thurs nights in White Plains, and I am LOVING it.  So awesome.  "Hello to the Pace Law 'Bowling' Team!"  I was also accepted into a PhD program in psychology which I plan to start this June after completing my current Masters of Entrepreneurship program this May.  Finally, I have begun a new book called "Learning How to Juggle - Time Management Skills of the Stars", and am pleased to welcome Lou Bortone (www.LouBortone.com) as my co-author on 'Battle Cries for the HOLLYWOOD Underdog', and Faith Smith, CEO of the hugely successful www.EyesCreamShades.com, as my co-author on 'Battle Cries for the BOOTSTRAPPING Underdog'--both new books in my Battle Cries for the Underdog series (currently available).

All in all, things are going pretty well.  Thanks once again for your enduring support.  It means so much to me.  And if you care to receive inspiration, how-tos, and business tips about book publishing, show business, and music... go to www.UnstoppableArtists.com and sign up to that email list as well.  Less about me, and more about YOU!

On that note, thank YOU again for YOUR support.  YOU are awesome.

Sincerely YOURS,

Big Summer Update: Watch me on TV, new book, and other Monroe Mann excitement.

To the RoMann Legion (i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

It's been a wild summer, and it's high time for an update on what's going on in the wild world of Monroe Mann.  You ready? : )
Here's the quick scoop:

  • Times Square Kiss-In
    • Woo hoo!  I've been hired as the MC of the third annual Times Square VJ Day 'Kiss In'.  It's a live, televised KISSING event celebrating the famous kiss on August 14th, 1945 (and the end of World War II).  You can read more about this exciting celebration (and also sign up to be a part of the kissing too! :) at http://www.timessquarenyc.org/about_us/events_vjday.html  ; It's on---you guessed it---August 14th, from 1 - 2:30PM in Times Square, will be televised, and will also be shown on the big Panasonic outdoor tv screen in Times Square.  Come on down if you're available to support the troops, big kisses, and yours truly!
  • Guerrilla Networking
    • My newest book, 'Guerrilla Networking', that I co-wrote with Jay Conrad Levinson is DONE, and at the publisher.  When is it coming out?  September/October.  It's my biggest book writing project yet, and I know you're gonna love it.  What is guerrilla networking?  Instead of trying to meet people, this book teaches you how to become the type of person OTHER people want to meet.  Simple, yet powerful.  Hooah!
  • Seven Samurai
    • I am STILL in the running for this tv show, can you believe it?  The show was just picked up for broadcast by Discovery Channel, and I am now apparently in the top 50%.   They are picking 7 cast members; I am now in the top 14.  I should know in the next month or two if I'm off to Japan this fall!
  • Juggernaut Club – Free Trial Account
    • We already have 19 members (including one from London!) in my exclusive networking group for winners.  Would you like to give it a FREE TEST DRIVE?  I have created a 'free trial account' for you to play around with; to 'test drive' the club to see if it's something you'd like to be a part of.  If you'd like a free test drive, lemme know.
  • Origami Deathmatch
    • My SAG comedy film 'Origami Deathmatch' is ALMOST DONE.  We have locked picture at 43 minutes, and are now adding the music soundtrack, and finalizing the 'green screen' special effects shots.  The official world premiere will be taking place in New York City this fall.  You are all invited. :)  More to come.
  • The Theatrical Juggernaut - Ebook Version (& First Three Chapters FREE)
    • Due to overwhelming demand from overseas, I am creating an ebook version of my bestselling motivational business guidebook for actors, 'The Theatrical Juggernaut'.  It will be available for purchase from UnstoppableArtists.com by mid August.  For those who haven't yet read the book, you will also be able to 'test drive' the first three chapters for free as well.  More to come!
  • Hollywood Combat
    • Yes, the war documentary drives on!  'Hollywood Combat' is the new name for my Iraq War Comedy Documentary that I am currently editing.  With over 80 hours of footage, you can be sure it's going to be unlike any other Iraq War documentary you may have seen to date.  Think Jackass meets M.A.S.H.
  • Law School/MBA/ME
    • I finished my first year of my MBA at Lubin School of Business this year (and am currently taking a 'Money & Capital Markets' class this summer), and on August 18th, I am starting law school again for the second time.  The first time was disrupted by my deployment in Iraq.  Those pesky wars--they ALWAYS get in the way of my dreams. :)  And I am 8 months from receiving my Masters of Entrepreneurship from Western Carolina University.  Swanky!
  • Teaching at Franklin College
    • Cool news: I am in contention for a teaching position at Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland, to teach a course entitled, 'Hollywood & Business--The Economics of Entertainment' next summer.   Now wouldn't that be groovy?  I'll keep you posted.
  • People Pretending To Be Me
    • There are still a bunch of losers pretending to be me, sending out fake emails in my name, and in general, trying to discredit me.  Please disregard these people if they somehow get in contact with you.  And again, any support you can provide me on the IMDb message boards, and via Amazon.com and BN.com book reviews would be greatly appreciated.
  • My New Friend Sammy Petrillo
    • I met this wonderful fellow named Sammy Petrillo the other day.  He is one of the stars of the cult classic film, 'Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla', and is renowned as the best Jerry Lewis impersonator to ever have lived.  Would you believe it: he has taken me under his wing.  He apparently thinks I am a 'young genius' (how nice of him!), and is introducing me to all of his connections in Hollywood.  Guess who is best friend is?  Leonard Nimoy.
  • New Script, "The Quiet"
    • I'm about 4 weeks out from completing a new screenplay called 'The Quiet' with stand-up comic Ronnie Khalil, and horror writer, Bob Madia.  It's a quirky cultish horror film about... Stephen King.  More to come soon. :)
  • My Band, Running for Famous
    • To all the wonderful fans of my seven piece ROMP explosion, I am pleased to report that two new songs are just about recorded and mixed: 'Momentum' and 'Reality in the Making'.  I'll put both on MySpace once they are completed in early fall.
  • To Benning & Back Available Again
    • For those who want to know what it's like going through Army basic training and officer candidate school... read this book.  The entire book is filled with my uncut journal entries from the months before I joined, to the infamous day we now know as September 11th.  You'll enjoy it, for sure.
  • Unstoppable Artists
    • Of course, things are still rocking and rolling with Unstoppable Artists, my business, marketing, and financial coaching firm for actors, authors, directors, and artists.  I'm pleased to report that I now not only have current clients in NY, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco, but also in London England, and Sao Paulo Brazil.  We're out of North America baby!  (If you seek assistance with your life, your career, or even your daily to-do lists... call me for a free career consultation by phone)
  • In the Wake Press Release
    • Ahh, yes, my feature film, 'In the Wake'.  Fret not, my adoring fans.  There is a LOT going on behind the scenes, and I'm sending out the official press release in a few days.  Apologies for the delay, but these things take time.  It'll be worth the wait.

Keep your fingers crossed: this could be a HUGE jump for my career. :)

In an effort to help me out, someone mentioned to me that getting Bs and B+s for my most recent semester of business school wasn't something to be 'bragging' about.  The truth is, however, that I am NOT proud of the 'grades'; I am proud of PASSING and keeping my grades up despite everything else that I am doing.  Going through business school (sucessfully) with everything else I have going on: I am impressed.  Damn right I am proud of myself, haha.  :)

Quick End of May Update

Quick update for everyone:

* I finished my first year of business school (my MBA) three weeks ago.  Woo hoo!  Scored a B+ in Marketing and e-business, and a B in Statistics and modeling
* I also finished my first year of my Masters of Entrepreneurship through Western Carolina University
* Finally finished Guerrilla Networking (the book I am writing with Jay Levinson).  I hope to have it off to the publisher in a few weeks
* The final cut of my film Origami Deathmatch is 3/4 done.  Gonna be finished by the end of June!  FOLD IT!
* My film, In the Wake, still drives forward.  Working to finalize the deal with the 'secret' company out in LA in June
* I was accepted into Pace Law School---and thus their JD/MBA program.  While I will take two summer MBA courses starting tomorrow, come the fall, I stop business school for a year, and do the first year of law school at Pace.  Wild, eh?
* I am putting together an off-Broadway show called, "Running for Famous" starring... my ROMP band, Running for Famous.  I hope for it to go up this fall.
* I am about 1/4 done with a novel I am working on, and 1/2 way through writing a new screenplay based on my time in Iraq
* And of course, my business Unstoppable Artists continues to chug along splendidly.

More to come soon!

Another AWESOME Monroe Mann Update

3/24/07

Take a moment to read the following. Remember, I'm not bragging, I'm just 'sharing the vibe'! :)
In a nutshell, here's the latest:

* In just one day, I got two amazing phone calls from two independent companies, both with the same message: 'Monroe, we have found someone who can fund your entire budget for your wakeboarding film In the Wake. Call us.' One of them is named Maxwell Sinovoi. Check him out on IMDb (in particular the cast for the second and third films under his name) and you'll see why I'm so thrilled. I send a big SHOUT OUT to Cindy Russo (Max's partner) for helping to make this connection. I am also pleased to report that Jorge Rodriguez, of the film 'Broken' that Roger Ebert gave '2 Thumbs Up' to, is now also on board with my wakeboarding film. You can read about him on IMDb too. Quite the impressive guy.

* Speaking of IMDb, I am FINALLY relisted as a director. For my two films, "Origami Deathmatch" and "Like a Lamb in June". The folks at IMDb add data slowly, so the cast and crew are not yet on there, but if you check back every few days, they manage to add a few more details each time. Please support me and my films by posting messages on all of my IMDb message boards for my films, and also on my own personal page on IMDb! I need the support!

* The folks at World of Wonder/Discovery Channel just told me that the final audition tape was sent to the executives for final decision. There are 29 'finalists', of which I am one, and they are going to pick 7 to star in the new reality documentary called 'Seven Samurai' shooting in Kyoto, Japan. You'll never guess my pitch that got them intrigued: of all the amazing things I've done in my life, there's one thing I've yet to even come close to accomplishing: finding a girlfriend. I figure maybe becoming an actual Samurai would help my prospects! HA HA! They loved it, and well, Fingers crossed!

* I am very excited for Thursday: I am going into my agent's office for what Marilynn Scott Murphy (my agent at Professional Artists) calls 'The Monroe Mann Show'. From 1 - 3PM, I am scheduled to perform before the entire agency two Broadway songs, one original pop song I wrote on guitar, two monologues, and have yet another interview discussing my bright future as an actor, writer, director, and producer. I'll keep ya posted.

* I am still deeply entrenched with the editing of my film short Origami Deathmatch, which was screened recently at Jamie Benti's Ruff Cutz (www.rcifc.com) in Boston--where I incidentally was cast in another film being produced by none other than... Jamie Benti himself. :) I was also just yesterday invited to be a panelist and potentially a judge next year as well. Regarding Origami... I am bringing my good friend George Schifini of Video Hatchery on board to assist with the fine edit of the film. Sending the rough cut off to him tomorrow in fact in prep for our first meeting. Remember to check out the film at www.IMDB.com

* In about 2 weeks, you will once again be able to buy my book, 'To Benning and Back', about my transformation from civilian to military officer, ending on September 11th, 2001. It will be rereleased by Authorhouse.

* Speaking of books, because of my up-and-coming celebritydom, Rooftop Publishing (a traditional publisher) is now speaking with me about bringing me on board their imprint. More to come on that.

* Again, speaking of books, 'Guerrilla Networking' (that I am co-writing with Jay Conrad Levinson) is nearly done! We should be sending it off to the publisher (Morgan James) in about 2 months. Hooray! Nearly done! And I hope by summer to be releasing another new book entitled, 'The Artist's MBA'. * For those of you curious about when my appearance on the national talk-show, 'The Dr. Keith Show' will air, I just got unofficial word from one of my editor friends who works there that it's airing the week of April 20th. I will send out an update once I get final confirmation.

* Did I mention that my band, Running for Famous, has a song called 'Crosstown Bus' that is now a themesong for a Rhode Island television show? I forget the name offhand (shame on me), but will get that info to you soon. You can listen to my band's music at www.RunningForFamous.com (or www.myspace.com/RunningForFamous). They take you to the same place. Also, if you want to become my personal friend on myspace, it's www.myspace.com/RoeMann (i think).

* Finally, if you or any of your artist friends need to get their butts in gear, and could use a top-notch business, marketing, and financial strategy... send them my way! Whether writers, singers, dancers, actors, directors, producers, whatever!--I'd be happy to provide a free 15 - 20 minute career consultation by telephone, no hard selling, no sleazy pitches--simply to discuss the best options for their future. You can also refer them to www.UnstoppableArtists.com, where you can read up on the Unstoppable Artists Rock Star of the Month, Dennis Hurley :)

* Finally, my production company www.LocoDawn.com just updated its website. Stop on by if you care to see what's going on over there, and remember to spread the good word about www.WhatIsMonroeDoingThisWeek.com---the online repository for all of these updates.

Thanks for your enduring support.

So, what happened in Boston?

SO... WHAT HAPPENED IN BOSTON?
*************************
QUITE A LOT! (And what's going on with my wakeboarding film?---keep reading)

Here's the quick rundown:

a) My two films, Origami Deathmatch, and Like a Lamb in June, were both screened in rough cut format.

b) As a result of my attendence and the screening of the films: (1) Ruff Cutz festival producer himself Jamie Benti cast me in his new film and offered to send a car to pick me up in New York, (2) I found two potential co-producers of my wakeboarding film in the form of Jorge Rodriguez and Alex Ferrari of the film Broken, that Roger Ebert gave '2 Thumbs Up' to, AND (3) I was asked to potentially direct a short film by Kevin Anderton, who just sold a number of his other short films to Sony Pictures.

c) I also was a featured speaker and panelist, alongside casting director Carolyn Pickman (local casting for The Departed, Good Will Hunting), Rich Schmidt (Feature-Filmmaking at Used Car Prices), Robert Siegel (famed entertainment attorney), Patrick Smith (Blend Films), Jeff Gordon (Writers Boot Camp), & as I mentioned, Alex Ferrari and Jorge Rodriguez (Broken). Festival producer Jaime benti wrote, 'Monroe Mann is a volcano of energy and ambition. Not only did he do an amazing job speaking, but he also networked in a way that would make the finest politician proud. He taught me a thing or two about determination.'

d) I was interviewed for both the Boston-area television show, 'Meet the Filmmakers' as well as on-camera for www.Beanywood.com. In fact, you can see my 4 1/2 minute interview posted up at www.Beanywood.com now, entitled, "Actors need to do far, far more than act." I cover both actors and filmmakers, and truly, artists in general. Check it out! You'll enjoy it.

e) Okay, and finally, about my feature film, 'In the Wake'. Yes, it's true. After 5 years of struggle, I have finally raised the first $30,000. Those lovely greenbacks now reside in an interest bearing account under the name Loco Dawn Films, LLC. What this means is that a) I am no longer just a screenwriter with a dream--I am now feature filmmaker who has actually raised some Benjamins. b) I can finally call my agency friends at Endeavor and William Morris once again and get some more attachments for the film. What this means for you? If you or anyone you know is an accredited investor, has $10,000 that they would like to invest in a film, AND get it deducted from their year 2007 tax return as a business expense... have them get in touch with me. We have a stellar team assembled for this film that includes production advisors Bob Fraser (Full House/Benson) and Mike Finnell (Gremlins, Small Soldiers, the 'burbs), as well as Jay Conrad Levinson (Guerrilla Marketing) as one of our marketing advisors. Not to mention that the entire wakeboarding community is on board, as well as Avril Lavigne and Sum41. :) So spread the word! IT'S FUND-RAISING TIME! Note: we are raising money throught the Model Accredited Investor Exemption to Regulation D. If you don't know what that means, just disregard (or hire Unstoppable Artists to school you up!)

Be sure to check out my new book, "Guerrilla Networking" that I am co-writing with Jay Conrad Levinson. You can find it available for pre-sales at Amazon and BN.com.

HOOAH!

P.S. - It would mean so much to me if you would--ya know, every month or two---just meander over to IMDB.com and search for 'Monroe Mann' and help support me by posting something positive about me, or replying to whatever drivvle the peanut galley is spewing out. Cause seriously, when there is a website called 'Ten Things I Hate About Monroe Mann', you know you're starting to make waves, but if I don't have a counterweight (you guys), those waves might tip me over. And the RoMann Empire Must Not Fall!

State of the RoMann Empire (February, 2007)

Hello World!

Here's a long overdue update on Monroe Mann's career as of February 2007 straight from the horses mouth, i.e. from me, Monroe Mann:

A) Two of my films, "Like a Lamb in June" and "Origami Deathmatch"--both of which I wrote, produced, and directed, were just accepted into Ruff Cutz in Boston, where I was also asked to be a speaker. Origami Deathmatch is a 30-minute SAG short comedy about an international origami competition, with a cast of 30 actors. I play the co-starring role of Jack Mareeda. More info: www.OrigamiDeathmatch.com

B) My new book, "Guerrilla Networking" (that I co-wrote with the famous Jay Conrad Levinson who wrote Guerrilla Marketing) is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.com, to be released sometime this summer/fall nationwide.

C) My first book, "The Theatrical Juggernaut" was just re-released in a second edition, and here are some of the back-cover blurbs:

"If this book is any indication of things to come, we are going to be hearing a lot about Monroe Mann." - Bob Fraser, Emmy-recognized actor, producer, writer, and director (Full House/Benson), and author of You Must Act

"A how-to for aspiring stars based on boot camp persistence." - CNN's Wolf Blitzer

"To make it big, you need the Real Deal. Mr. Mann is the Real Deal." - Jay Conrad Levinson, author of the Guerrilla Marketing series of books.

D) I am now represented as an actor by Marilynn Scott Murphy of Professional Artists, here in Manhattan.

E) I just recently submitted to two different reality shows. One of them, "On the Lot" is about 16 up-and-coming directors; the other "Seven Samurai" is seeking Iraq War Vets. Oh yes, I also spent a year in Iraq serving my country, as an intelligence advisor to the 4th Iraqi Army

F) I am currently enrolled part-time in the JD/MBA program at Pace University, through both Lubin School of Business, as well as Pace Law School. In other words, I will have my MBA and law degree in about 5 years. I am also enrolled in Western Carolina University's Master of Entrepreneurship program, and will graduate in May, 2008, and then begin my PhD in Psychology.

G) Now that I am back from the war, I am putting my band, "Running for Famous" back together again. More info at www.RunningForFamous.com (which takes you to our MySpace page)

H) I just raised the first $40,000 for my wakeboarding feature film, "In the Wake". The first check is always the toughest... and I finally have it.

I) I recently went through Jay Levinson's Guerrilla Marketing coach program, and graduated. I am now certified as a Guerrilla Marketing Certified Coach.

J) The new website for my business, Unstoppable Artists, LLC, is now up and running. You can check it out at www.UnstoppableArtists.com and read all about our success stories.

K) I recently attended and graduated from Digital Film Academy here in NY, and now have my own Final Cut Pro editing suite as well. In addition to my films above, I am also working on the world's first comedic documentary about the war in Iraq, using 60 hours of original footage that I shot myself while I was over there.

L) I am now also involved in a joint venture with Bob Fraser (Producer/writer of Full House and Benson) that will take us on tour all around the country helping actors starting this spring.

Well, that about sums it up for now!

And for the record, the person listed as 'Monroe Mann (II)' is NOT me. I have not, and never would have done, any porn films.

ROMP ON! MEET YOU AT THE TOP!

And we're off!

Okay, so what is Monroe doing this week?

In a nutshell:
* finishing up the editing of the rough cut of my film, "Origami Deathmatch"
* finalizing my submission to the new reality show about directors called, "On the Lot"
* working on my book, "Guerrilla Networking" that I am writing with Jay Levinson
* heading to marketing class at Pace tomorrow, and then statistics class on thursday (for my MBA), and continuing work on my mid-term for my ME (Masters of Entrepreneurship)
* doing an interview for a television show in Manhattan
* getting postcards ready to send off as press kit reminders to all of the casting directors in NY and LA about my appearance on the Dr. Keith Show as a guest (on I believe Feb 14th, V-day)
* revamping and continually revitalizing and improving www.UnstoppableArtists.com and the services that I offer my clients and students
* trying to plan and strategize the best way to get my band back together and playing out :)

One of my favorite quotes is by Vince Lombardi. He said, "Show me someone who is successful, and I'll show you someone who has overcoming adversity." Well, Vince, I'm overcoming! I'm overcoming! :) Or... trying to anyway.

Origami Deathmatch

ROMP ON!  FOLD IT!

Watch me on National Television!

National Television baby! Watch me on "The Dr. Keith Show"! I am the 'star' for their episode on matchmaking. I posted a 'man seeking woman' post up on Craigslist and they found me, and thought I was the perfect guy for their show. They were looking for an 'intelligent, attractive, successful, but single' guy who was having trouble getting a girlfriend. Well... that's me! So they interviewed me on camera, asked me tons of questions to get to know me, then found three beautiful single women in Manhattan, and sent me on three lovely dates! With cameras rolling the whole time. I then actually appeared ON the show, and was interviewed by Dr. Keith himself. My three friends Tony Jeraci, Greg Cilmi, and Nicole Moeller sat in the front row for morale support! The whole show was SO FUNNY! You are going to be laughing on the floor when it airs. So, when is it airing? They think on Valentine's Day? On what channel? go to www.DrKeithTV.com and you can find where it airs in your city. And YES, it is a NATIONAL SHOW (we taped at NBC Studios at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan) so you'll be able to watch it. If it turns out to be a different date, I will tell you! Truly, this was CRAZY...
