So, how did the screening go? (& Christmas greetings)

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

First, I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy Hannukah.  I wish you all the very best, and send you my prayers as we move into 2008.  May this be our best year yet.  TRIUMPH & VICTORY BABY!

Second, I've been receiving a bunch of emails from friends and fans asking how the premiere of Origami Deathmatch turned out.  Well... I am pleased to report that it was a grand and resounding success!  Sure, the Pioneer Theater is a gorgeous east village theater that everyone raved about, but the theater wasn't all they raved about!  Our 40-minute film Origami Deathmatch... was a hit!  From friends who were 'blown away' by what they saw to members of the media and the industry who have declared their intention of helping finance the feature film, the consensus was that this premiere is certainly not the end, and rather just the beginning!  We were all absolutely thrilled to hear the audience roaring with laughter throughout the film, and have been completely overwhelmed with encouragement about our prospects at film festivals.  To that end, we are excited to report that we have submitted the film to the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival, the Rincon International Film Festival, and that's just for starters.  Ladies and gentlemen, I do believe that Origami Deathmatch has a future. :)  What a cast!  What a crew!  What a beautifully folded piece of paper!

NOW FOLD, YOU FOLDING SON OF A BITCH, FOLD!

Thank you for all of your support!

Comedy Legends Team Up With Generation X for New Comedy Film

( New York City) Sammy Petrillo—best known for his resemblance to Jerry Lewis in the 1950s cult classic Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla—has teamed up with up-and-coming film maker and Iraq war veteran Monroe Mann to shoot a brand new ending to the film that has made Petrillo a cult star even to this day.

Petrillo and Mann are negotiating a co-production deal with Rick Sapphire, who is none other than Jerry Lewis' agent, and also with the ever-famous Joe Franklin, the 'king of nostalgia', who is a long-time friend of Petrillo.  Petrillo's current comedy partner Suzie Fiore will also appear in the film, as well as Mann, who is an actor himself.  Additional potential appearances include Mickey Rooney, and other Hollywood stars.

Petrillo, now in his mid-seventies, shot Brooklyn Gorilla when he was just 17, with his long-time comedy partner Duke Mitchell.  Together, the two became known as the world's best Lewis and Martin impersonators, and today, are still recognized as such.

Film critic Leonard Maltin says that "[ Brooklyn Gorilla] is always at the top of my list [of the best of Hollywood's worst].  It's not only got Bela and a gorilla, but it has two guys who were the poor man's Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis… They were a nightclub act that bore an amazing resemblance to Dean and Jerry.  It's a film you watch in utter amazement."

Petrillo will appear in this new ending co-written/co-produced/directed by Monroe Mann, 30, whose comedy film Origami Deathmatch premieres December 21st, 2007 at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater in Manhattan.  Mann is honored to include Sammy Petrillo, Joe Franklin, & Suzie Fiore as members of the attending audience for this world premiere.

The new ending to Brooklyn Gorilla takes place 50 years later.  Instead of it all being a dream, this ending plays with the idea that Sammy and Duke never got off the island, and that 50 years later they are still stuck there, in their seventies!  Even more strange, other stars over the years have also become stranded on the island, and they all have been unsuccessful in getting off—sort of like a Gilligin's Island of Movie Stars.

"Now I can be in a movie and be as old as my material," jokes Petrillo.  "Once I was the youngest has-been in show business; and now I can be one of the oldest!  This idea of a new ending is something Monroe Mann and I are really excited about; it's our brainchild.  A generation gap thing.  I just wish Duke were here to be in it too."

Mann says he's really honored that Sammy has put his trust in him.   Mann jokes, "And it didn't hurt one bit!"

Mann is currently also producing the world's first wakeboarding feature film that he co-wrote called "In the Wake" with producers Christian Barnes (National Lampoon's Cattle Call) and David Salzberg (The Perfect Game with Cheech Marin and Emilie de Ravin), as well as a horror film that he co-wrote shooting in Maine this spring that is based on a true story. Mann is also editing the world's first comedy documentary about the war in Iraq, shot entirely by Mann during his tour of duty in the middle east.

Improv show TODAY, and 'hooah' Monroe Mann update!

DATE: December 16th, 2007
SUBJECT: Improv show TODAY, and 'hooah' Monroe Mann update.

TO THE ROMANN LEGION
(i.e. loyal fans of the RoMann Empire):

Hello!

A) First, if you're in New York City, come TODAY (Sunday) to Upright Citizens Brigade theater to see me and 11 other performers split into two teams to perform what we improvisors affectionately call The Harold - a longform improvised show based on a suggestion BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES.  It's a wild and fun show with a big layer of 'what the heck is happening next?' added to a process that can only be described as building a plane in the air.  If that doesn't sound fun, what does?  It's today, Sunday, 5:30PM, at UCB Theater, 26th St, just west of 8th ave, $5.

B) In other news, I am pleased to report that I:
* am just finishing up my first semester of law school this week--one final exam down, two to go!
* am graduating this May with my Masters in Entrepreneurship
* am finishing up a new book called, "How to Start Your Own Motivational Coaching Business" with Entrepreneur Press
* am 1/4 through my studies at Boston Institute of Finance to become a Certified Financial Planner
* just finished a new horror screenplay with comedian Ronnie Khalil and horror writer Bob Madia which we hope to start shooting in Maine this spring
* Barnes & Noble just made a big order to stock Guerrilla Networking in even MORE stores across the country!  THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
* I have two speaking engagements in January: one on Jan 8th at at the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists speaking about how to 'Make Your Own Break/Be Your Own Manager' and another at Drama Book Shop on Saturday, the 19th, talking about... 'Guerrilla Networking in the Arts and Business'.
* and I'm SOOO pleased and excited to report that my SAG comedy film Origami Deathmatch (that I wrote, produced, directed, and co-starred in along with 32 other actors) is premiering this Friday, December 21st, at the Pioneer Theater in New York City.  I am sending a press release off with more info later tonight/tomorrow with more details.
